Tablets and notebooks are two devices that satisfy most people’s computing needs while being mobile. A notebook is basically just another name for a laptop, which is basically a computer that is squeezed into a very small package. A tablet is a smaller and sleeker type of computer as it forgoes the physical qwerty keyboard found on most notebooks, which takes up a big amount of space on the device. Instead, the main input device of tablets is the touch sensitive screen. A tablet is packaged with a stylus which one can use as a pointing device or as a pen when writing input. Operating systems that are used with tablets are packaged with very capable handwriting recognition software that would decipher what one is writing and convert it to text. If one does not want to use handwriting recognition, one can also pull out an on-screen keyboard that one can use for input. 

The main advantage of tablets is in their flexibility. Unlike notebooks that one needs to open and place on a stable surface in order to use comfortably, one can use one hand to hold a tablet and the other to manipulate it. This is one of the reasons why tablets are preferred by people who are always on the go. Note-taking is one use where tablets excel considerably over notebooks.

Given the advantages of tablets, they also have their disadvantage, namely the price. For a given specification, tablets cost considerably more compared to notebooks. If one is on a tight budget, one can get more for the buck with a standard notebook rather than with a tablet.
